To All Amputee’s/Orthotic Patients:
I have been an amputee for many years now, with lots of leg set-up problems. I started as a BK (below knee) and now I am an AK (above knee), due to many issues and problems from leg set-ups and nothing to do with my Diabetic problems. I had poor fit and alignment issues where sores and others were caused. I was under the care with many other Prosthetists and their leg set-ups throughout the years. I thought they were doing good for me, but they weren’t. It never seemed to work out for me to move forward and reach All my goals that were put on hold. I’ve heard all comments and excuses as to why their leg set-ups should have worked out, but of course I was the problem. I was blamed for not doing things right or following orders. I even had another company stop their care and treatment with me thru a text message. I was left again without a leg and was back on crutches for over 8 months until my Orthopedic doctor sent me a prescription for a consult with Walkabouts practitioner Darrell Cook. This has been the best, most wonderful thing that was meant to be! From early June 2022, (socket mold done) to the end of August with my leg set up Walkabout did for me. It was totally completed without any problems with it! I was able to walk out the door and am now enjoying every day with my leg set-up! Any amputee who is not moving forward, or struggling with issues on a daily basis, gets a referral to Walkabout Orthotics & Prosthetics. Move on with your life and forward with every step you take! Darrell and Kali (assistant) are the best team for any BK/AK amputee! Plus, their staff at Walkabout are excellent to work with. The receptionists, Emily and Stephanie, are ready to take your call and are so polite and friendly to talk to. All the staff in the workshop who are trained so well to do the best prosthesis work for any amputee. The Orthotic work is also excellent. I had problems with my right shoe gait with my Prosthetic leg, Darrell had the Orthotic specialist adjust it and shim where needed and now I walk as happily as ever. The facility is wonderful and laid out well; so well that everyone has privacy. The building is always so clean and has a huge reception area for the patients to enjoy. There are nice, large, clean handicap accessible bathrooms to use. If you are not happy on a daily basis being an amputee or need orthotic work done, get over to Walkabout and be happy moving forward with every step, not to mention unnecessary problems. Everyone: Walk upright, happy, smiling daily with every step at Walkabout!
